Abstrak

Kajian ini bertujuan meneliti semula pendeskripsian makna kata halal yang terdapat dalam Kamus Dewan (2016). Kata yang berasal daripada kalimah Arab halla, yahillu, hillan, wahalalan, telah dideskripsikan dengan empat makna dalam bahasa Melayu. Walau bagaimanapun, maklumat yang terkandung dalam pendeskripsian makna yang dibuat adalah terhad dan boleh menimbulkan unsur taksa. Kajian bersandarkan "data semula jadi" yang digagaskan dalam analisis "linguistik dalam dunia sebenar" ini secara spesifik membincangkan maklumat teks bagi kata halal untuk makna 2. berbentuk kiasan (yang diperdapat, diperoleh, diperbuat. Sebanyak 31 349 kata halal yang diselusuri daripada pangkalan data DBP, DBP-UKM dan WebCorp telah dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori prosodi semantik. Teori yang menekankan unsur consistent aura ini berjaya menyerlahkan maklumat teks bagi makna 2. berbentuk kiasan (yang diperdapat, diperoleh, diperbuat, makna sumber yang boleh dikategorikan kepada empat submakna, iaitu bahan, aktiviti, rezeki dan hak/pemilikan. Penyerlahan maklumat teks ini membuktikan bahawa analisis bahasa berasaskan data semula jadi mampu menawarkan penjelasan makna bagi sesuatu kata yang mengalami masalah ketaksaan, sehingga makna kata tersebut dapat difahami dengan lebih jelas.
