Statement of Ethics

Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka abides by the ethics laid down by The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).


Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief/Editor
To make independent evaluations of all articles submitted by contributors.
To ensure the appointment if suitable evaluators, based on background and academic specialization.
To ensure that the evaluation process is carried out suing a double blind review.
To obtain the views of the Editorial Board.
To make decisions concerning articles to be published as well as the time of publication.

Responsibilities of the Writer(s)
To ensure the article is recent, original, has not been previously published and is not being reviewed for publication elsewhere.
To ensure there is no element of plagiarism in the submitted article.
To ensure that all sources of excerpts and quotations are clearly and stated in their entirety.
To acknowledge all sources of any secondary data used in their entirety.
To ensure adherence to the format set by the publisher.

Responsibilities of the Reviewers
To review articles in an objective, fair and professional manner.
To inform the editor-in-chief/editor of any transgression of publication ethics detected in a submitted article.
To endure that articles reviewed are not plagiarised, and have not appeared elsewhere previously.
To ensure reviews are completed within the allocated time and to inform the editor-in-chief/editor if an extension is required to review any article.
Not to discuss an article under evaluation with any other party without permission.

Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
To contribute actively to the development of the journal.
To function as ambassadors of the journal.
To provide continued support and promote the journal.
To evaluate articles submitted for evaluation.

Open Access
This is an open access journal available to all users.

Malay Literature, published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, is an open access journal that applies the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) License and is subjected to the terms of conditions of this license.

Article Processing Charge (APC) Statements
Malay Literature does not charge any article processing fee.

Language Policy
Articles are published in English and Malay. Malay and English translations are given for titles, abstracts and keywords.

Copyright Policy
Upon acceptance of an article, Authors will be asked to transfer copyright. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information. A notification will be sent to the corresponding Author confirming receipt of the manuscript.

If excerpts from other copyrighted works are included, the Author(s) must obtain written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) in the article.

Journal Plagiarism Policy
Authors should submit only original work that is not plagiarized, and has not been published or being considered elsewhere. Works from other publications must be cited and clearly stated the source all sources of excerpts and quotations are clearly and stated in their entirety.

Article submitted to the Malay Literature will be screened for plagiarism using IThenticate plagiarism detection software. Malay Literature will immediately reject article leading to plagiarism or self-plagiarism above 25%. The editor may confer with editorial board when making this decision.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
